Optometrist (Part Time)

Salary: Up to £60,000 pa (pro-rata) depending on experience
Other benefits: Private medical insurance & GOC renewal fee paid (pro-rata), one hour lunch, free onsite parking
Employment: Permanent role, 2 full days per week + 2 Saturdays per month (half day) - Mon or Fri & any other midweek day; in Chippenham, Wiltshire. Flexibility to work additional days as holiday cover and swap some days to avoid bank holidays consuming leave allowance.

About the practice

Brignall Opticians is an independent, house-based practice with a relaxed atmosphere and emphasis on spending time with patients to understand and address their needs. You’ll work with some of the most modern equipment available. We have a Topcon OCT and MYAH to support a full range of enhanced services, from dye eye, to CUES and complex contact lenses. Other equipment:

  • All rooms with phoropters & digital slit lamp cameras

  • Henson 9000, iCare & Intellipuff tonometers

  • All records are electronic

You’ll work alongside two other highly qualified Optometrists (IP, Glaucoma & Medical Retina) and an experienced Dispensing Optician. Our trained Optical Assistants support clinics by pre-screening patients, performing OCTs and Visual Fields.

About the role

We’re looking for a registered Optometrist to join the team, who can build a relationship with our patients. We’ll support your on-going professional development and you’ll be genuinely involved in shaping the work of the clinical team.

Your first week

There will be time set aside to get familiar with instruments, practice software and workflows. With extended appointment times during your early days, you’ll have plenty of time to ask questions.

About you

  • Positive and enthusiastic approach towards discussing patient needs; work as a team with the Dispensing Optician to find the right solution for the patient

  • Proactively manage your time and work efficiently

  • Being patient focussed, ensuring their needs are met and actively following up where needed

  • Keep up to date with new guidance and advances in optics

  • Keep accurate records to ensure your colleagues can provide a seamless patient experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication with patients and staff

  • Strong computer skills, including e-mail, office suite and an electronic practice management system. You’ll also need to navigate supplier websites and referral portals.
