Dr Neelam Mittal

Neelam earned an Masters in Optometry from the University of Manchester (2011) and a PhD from Aston University (2016). She holds a Professional Certificate in Glaucoma and a Diploma in Therapeutics (Independent Prescribing). Neelam became owner and director of Brignall Opticians in 2020, after roles in independent practices and hospital clinics.

Her interests include binocular vision, complex contact lenses and dry eye. When away from work she enjoys time with her husband, son and dog and finding time to keep fit!

Rachel Greatorex-Davies

Rachel graduated from Cardiff University in 2015 and gained a Professional Certificate in Medical Retina in 2020. She joined Brignall Opticians in 2021 and completed her Independent Prescribing qualification in 2025. She has recently completed a higher qualification in glaucoma.

Rachel is an experienced optometrist, committed to developing her clinical skills. Her qualifications enable her to prescribe several medications to treat eye conditions. She also works part time in a hospital eye clinic.

In her spare time, Rachel enjoys travelling and cycling.

Emma Harris

Emma has worked in optics for over 15 years and qualified as a Dispensing Optician in 2021. Emma has mostly worked in independent practice and joined Brignall Opticians in 2024.

In August 2026 she began a Diploma in Contact Lens Practice and will start seeing contact lens patients as she trains to qualify.

Outside work she enjoys time with her two Labradors and is a keen Formula 1 fan.

Eryn Coombs

Eryn’s experience in optics began in 2021. After studying at Cardiff University, she completed her training at an independent, family-run practice in West Wales, qualifying as an optometrist in April 2026. Eryn is passionate about continuing to develop her clinical skills and providing thorough, individualised eye care to the local community.

In her spare time, she enjoys walking in nature and being creative.
